Making a home out of the old Gourmet Burger Kitchen site comes The Residency, a new restaurant and bar that will bring a lively, trendy new spot for good food, drinks and music.
'Within these four walls, you’re home', is the mantra of this new Notting Hill dining space - considering the area that is teeming with similar bars and restaurants, The Residency is bringing out all the stops to stand out from the crowd.
Starting off with the interiors, The Residency already promises a unique experience with floor to ceiling wooden panelling and a warm, glowy lighting that makes the place feel cosy and almost homely. Being a music-led concept, it hits the nail on the head with the recording studio vibe: those walls make you feel soundproofed and hint at the fantastic entertaiment to come from the local creatives invited to perform there.
In terms of the restaurant, chef Carniel Francis is at the helm, producing a menu that is a fusion of European and Caribbean flavours that represents the diverse cultural heritage of Notting Hill. For starters, guests can treat themselves to ackee and saltfish arancini, burratta with a tomato marmalade or a salmon scotch egg paired with a curry mayonnaise.
Moving onto the main course, vegetarians can indulge in the lemon spaghettini while meat eaters can feast on pan-seared sea bream, the bone marrow burger or even some sushi grade tuna tartare.
Even brunch has this fusion of Euro-Caribbean flavours with both an English and Caribbean full breakfast on offer. The Caribbean breakfast includes salted cod sautéed with garlic, shallots, bell peppers and ackee and comes served with breadfruit, plantain and avocado - certainly a difficult choice between this and your classic eggs, bacon and sausage.
As a venue that doubles as a bar, the drinks list is extensive with a huge range of classic and signature cocktails, as well as wines, spirits and beers to sip on while you enjoy the live performances.
