The Imperial in Torquay is the most serene of spots in Torquay and offers luxurious overnight stays, along with unique events and fantastic culinary offerings. The restaurant is the beating heart of the hotel, and provides diners with the most incredible, panoramic views across the coastlines of South Devon and Torbay. The menu focuses on fresh, local produce, and the chef's use their talents to create exciting flavour pairings and modern dishes.
There are several incredible starters on offer, including the soup of the day, and smoked salmon and squid crisps with avocado, Greek yoghurt, pickled apple and yuzu dressing. Other options include the chicken liver brulee with caramelised onion and sourdough bread, a beetroot and goat cheese dish with pickled apple, linseed tuile and black garlic ketchup, and a ham hock terrine with piccalilli and garlic focaccia. For your main, try the hake with carrot puree, pickled carrot, roasted carrots and shrimp cream, the lamb rump with aubergine miso, peppers, courgette and a honey dressing, or the homity pie with herb salad and chantenay carrots. The wild mushroom ravioli is an indulgent dish with parmesan and tarragon, and the ribeye steak is served with mushroom, grilled tomato, bearnaise sauce and triple cooked chips.
There are some tremendous desserts on the menu, including a sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel sauce and clotted cream ice cream, along with a passion fruit parfait with mango, coconut and lime. Other options include the lemon posset with raspberry sorbet and candy orange, and an indulgent chocolate delice with honeycomb and ice cream. For a refreshing end, try the selection of ice cream and sorbets, or a savoury finish with a selection of Paxton & Whitfield cheeses.
