SquareMeal Review of The Queen’s Arms

Despite its location –a prime Kensington cobbled mews behind the Albert Hall – the Queen’s Arms’ prosaic interior is nothing to sing about. But, luckily, the food and booze on offer stands out in an area short on good pubs. Drinkers – mostly locals, plus students from the nearby Royal College of Art and Imperial College – enjoy a range of hand-pulls including Sharp's Doom Bar and Fuller's London Pride; add to that, 20 or so fruit and speciality beers, as well as arcane delights such as potato vodka distilled in England. To eat, order substantial sandwiches at lunchtime, or a full meal of British classics: potted smoked mackerel followed by braised ox cheek and red wine pie with colcannon, plus Eton mess for afters will set you back around £23. Sunday roasts are also a popular shout with SW7’s rugby crowd.
