Following a £1m refurbishment, the Royal Albert Hall has unveiled a new flagship eatery in what was the Café Consort. Overseen by ‘rhubarb’ catering, Verdi brings Italian food and live music to the reinvigorated Grade I-listed surroundings – now dressed up with contemporary colours, textures and finishes. Highlights from the menu include sea bream and olive gnocchi with spinach, tomato and caper dressing, rigatoni arrabbiata laced with red chillis, and stone-baked pizzas topped with king prawns, asparagus and button mushrooms – all supported by a regional Italian wine list. Live music showcases young talent from the capital, with performances on Friday night (‘More at the Hall’), Saturday lunchtime and as part of a brunch package on Sundays. The restaurant will be closed if there is no show on a Monday.
