The Pump House can be found in a beautiful waterside location close to where the city docks meet the River Avon, and just in the shadows of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The building is a former Victorian pumping station, so if you take a look around you're sure to notice some of its original features. Here, the team strives to use locally sourced food in order to support the community and small independent suppliers. Children are welcome until 9pm, and dogs are always invited, no matter where you are in the venue. The ground floor is fully accessible, with a level entrance ramp.
Share some snacks amongst the table as you choose what to order. Decide between Cornish smoked mackerel pate with a cucumber pickle and sourdough, a plate of crispy parsnips with curry sauce, and a whole baked truffle honey Tunworth with sourdough toast. Starters include the pan roasted partridge with swede, toasted nuts and seeds, along with miso glazed celeriac with mushroom, egg yolk and hazelnut. If you like a pub classic, order the beer battered fish and chips with bashed peas and tartare sauce, the Cumberland sausages with mash, onion gravy and seasonal greens, or the gammon, egg and chips with pineapple salsa. Main dishes include the braised ox cheek with mustard mash with Roscoff onion and seasonal greens, another dish of fried semolina gnocchi with squash, taleggio, sage and almond, and free range confit chicken leg with bacon anna potato with Boudin blanc and turnip.
Desserts include the banana parfait with cashew crumble and oat milk sorbet, along with marmalade pudding and whiskey custard, and a delicious bitter chocolate delice with sugared pistachios and ice cream.
