Located on the High Street of Kent seaside town Herne Bay, The Oyster and Chop House is all about meat and seafood, and lots of it. Serving an extensive menu of dishes, a number of which are made in its in-house smoker, The Oyster and Chop House provides a very relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the big-flavoured food. Whether you’re coming for a big family meal, a date night, or a fun evening with friends, The Oyster and Chop House has got you covered.
The outside of the restaurant is pretty 80s in feel, with neon signs casting a glow over its blue façade. Inside, however, the small space is decorated in muted white on one side and the other is all exposed brick-work. A tiny bar at the far end pulls in punters every day with its very decent happy hour every day between 5-6pm.
The food menu begins with a variety of starter options. Tapas-style dishes to share include crispy pickles, chicken wings, and Cajun mushrooms; or if you’re wanting something to yourself, there are options including a seafood chowder, calamari, and oysters. Smoky main courses from the barbecue range from beef rib to soft pork belly, and all come with pickles, slaw and fries. Homemade barbecue sauce sits on every table, meaning that you can smother your food in it if you so wish.
If you don’t fancy the smoky offerings from the barbecue, there are also a variety of seafood dishes available such as lobster mac n’ cheese, as well as food from the grill including steaks and butterfly chicken breast. In case you need any more options, there are also a section of burgers on offer.
The drinks menu, which includes everything from beers on tap and glasses of wine, to cocktails, is the perfect accompaniment to the bold food menu. With everything at The Oyster and Chop House priced incredibly reasonably, you’ll be guaranteed to get a lot of bang for your buck.
