Considered by many to be an absolutely exquisite hotel, the Old House overlooks one of Hampshire’s finest squares. It scores highly for creature comforts, especially in its small & beautiful restaurant – there are also two further dining areas including a chandelier-lit conservatory. Local sourcing is impeccable & the menu mixes classical & modern influences, as in goats’ cheese tartlet with beetroot jelly, rocket & cucumber salad or a duo of pheasant served with confit carrot & a warm green lentil & spinach salad. A team of mainly young staff provides excellent service, & the Old House sports one of the better wine lists in the area.
