The Northumberland Arms is a short walk from Warren Street tube station, just off Tottenham Court Road. Its decor and exterior are typical of pubs across central London: long wooden bar, compact outside area, tables and chairs dotted throughout. Food is served from midday until 8 or 9pm depending on the day.
Pieminister supplies the food. Filings are moo (steak and ale), moo and blue (steak and Stilton), free ranger (chicken, ham and leek), fungi chicken (chicken and mushroom) and mooless moo (jackfruit ‘steak’ and ale). These are served three ways: mash, peas, gravy, cheddar and crispy onions; mash, peas, gravy; mash and gravy. Pork scratchings with apple sauce are the solitary bar snack.
As well as a range of draught lagers, ciders and ales, the drinks menu also features a strong selection of gins and cocktails. Gin is divided into the fruity or forever collection. The former contains the likes of Malfy Rosa, Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla and Gordon’s Premium Pink, while the latter includes Hendrick’s and Tanqueray No. Ten. Gin, like all spirits, can be doubled up for just £2.50 extra.
There are six cocktails to choose from: strawberry daiquiri, pornstar martini, berry blush, woo, sex on the beach and Long Island iced tea. You’ll also find a series of long drinks and spritzes, such as a Bacardi spiced rum mule, Jameson, ginger and lime and a melon drama (Malibu, cranberry juice and soda).
