The Montgomery Pub is a quaint but quintessentially British pub in the heart of Eastham. The Monty, as it’s fondly known, boasts modern décor inside the Tudor-style pub outer with wicker chairs seated under vintage light features and exposed brick walls contrasting against stripy blue wallpaper.
The pub serves a breakfast and brunch menu from midday during the week and 11am on weekends, where you can order Welsh rarebit, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, and bacon or sausage baps. Bring the kiddies along and they can tuck into simple fuss-friendly dishes alongside a glass of squash and if they’re good, a scoop of ice-cream for dessert. On the lunch menu, we love the look of the hot roast bap served with a pot of gravy or keep it simple with an overflowing chip bap with peppercorn sauce.
Pop by for dinner and start with the full Monty plank to share including chicken wings, pâté, ribs, curry and pitta bread to mop it all up. Other options include black pudding with poached egg and onion bhaji or house nachos with beef or veggie chilli. For mains, choose a grilled gammon steak, ribeye or sirloin served with a sauce of choice, dressed watercress salad and chunky chips, dauphinoise or new potatoes. You can also try the beef lasagne or beer battered haddock with chips, peas and tartar sauce. Pick Eton mess, the Monty cheesecake of the week or a decadent white and dark chocolate brownie for dessert.
