67 Burgate has had many uses over its long and varied history. It’s been a family home, a boot maker, an antiques shop and a glass repairers.
In 1998 it was acquired by a local resident, Nimmy Sandhu, who wanted to find a place to fulfil his dream of opening a traditional English tea room. He found the ideal location at 67 Burgate. With its exposed beams, original frontage and low ceilings it fitted perfectly with Nimmys concept of what he wanted to achieve. Over the next decade, he worked tirelessly to establish the tea rooms, building an outstanding local reputation and gradually the word spread to a wider audience. The emphasis has always been on good, friendly service and top quality food.
In more recent years Nimmy has been joined in the business by his nephew Kelvin, who has continued to develop the business with new ideas and concepts. Kelvin also has his brother Matthew alongside him, contributing and sharing his ideas.
We have embraced the technology of the 21st century and expanded the range of goods on offer but will never forget our founding concepts of top quality food, excellent service and a friendly smile.
