The London outpost of a global steakhouse brand with branches in South Africa, the Middle East and Australia, The Meat & Wine Co does what it says on the tin, matching slabs and ‘hanging skewers’ of prime dry-aged beef with a mighty 2,000-bin ‘wine wall’ featuring tipples from award-winning vintners worldwide. The kitchen also roams the globe, picking up Greek salads, Cajun salmon, pir-piri prawns, kangaroo and springbok along the way – as well as peanut butter cheesecake and malva (an apricot sponge pudding beloved of Nelson Mandela). Lunch specials such as marinated chicken breast on tagliatelle weigh in at £10 a plate. Set within the Westfield Centre, the place is tailor-made for shoppers and business folk with its snazzy blend of leather, wood and stone. Cocktails, platters and eclectic snacks are also available in the Puza Bar.
