On the South Terrace of Westfield White City, Salt Yard W12 serves up an extensive selection of Spanish and Italian small plates. At the heart of the restaurant’s enclosed terrace lies an olive tree, which instantly gives a Mediterranean feel to this chic west London eatery. Elsewhere, you’ll find the restaurant group’s signatures: exposed brick, high tables and plants hanging over the well-stocked bar.
We would argue that the signature Padron pepper margarita is a must when visiting here. Alternatively, there are plenty of other punchy and exciting cocktails to choose from, as well as refreshing mocktails and a cracking list of global wines. For those who like their drinks straight up, meanwhile, be sure to peruse the list of Mediterranean liqueurs.
As with other tapas restaurants, how you order is up to you. The menu is well suited to snacking with drinks, lunch, dinner or full-on group feasting. Start things off with tasty nibbles like flatbread with garlic butter, pan con tomate or Padron peppers, before moving on to bigger things. All the classic dishes you come to expect are present: jamon Iberico, croquetas, patatas bravas, salt cod fritters and tortillas.
You’ll also find a pleasing selection of more unusual dishes, including courgette flower with monte enebro and blossom honey, glazed spare ribs with hispi coleslaw and an Iberico smash burger with sweet gorgonzola and quince aioli.
Finally, to finish, choose from an enticing list of indulgent desserts, including dark chocolate mousse with mascarpone and strawberry, buttermilk panna cotta with poached pear and biscotti or pistachio and white chocolate doughnuts. For something a little simpler, there is also a selection of ice cream and sorbet such as dulce de leche, stracciatella, strawberry and mango. There is also a set menu that showcases the various highlights from the a la carte offering, ideal for groups.
