Dating back to 1851 when it was built by the Maynard family, the Maynard Arms in Crouch End stands as a testament to its heritage. Now, the bar and dining room intertwine the beautiful, historic architecture with contemporary design.
The inviting Chesterfield sofas, charming booths, and relaxed atmosphere collectively create an inviting atmosphere where customers can unwind and connect. Whether you're in search of a laid-back Sunday lunch, a vibrant lunch on a summer’s day, or a busy Friday night, the Maynard Arms serves as a great setting - it’s family and dog friendly with disabled facilities, and has a vibrant beer garden which is well lit, covered and has heaters. Beginning the menu is wild mushroom, truffle and Parmesan arancini, Gordal olives, and a good old sausage roll with HP sauce.
Starters are just as varied, with salmon ceviche, pressed crispy lamb belly in smoked anchovy butter and seared scallops with salsa verde. If you're dining with loved ones, you may enjoy a sharer for the table, of camembert, a charcuterie board, and crispy fried tofu. The lunch menu has plenty of sandwiches on it, including marmalade roast ham, but the all-day main menu is where the real fun begins - with dry-aged Ayrshire pork cutlets, cider-battered fish and chips and a short rib and flank burger with smoked Applewood cheddar, burnt onions and bone marrow crumb.
The Sunday roast menu offers roast chicken with sage and onion stuffing, roast beef with horseradish cream, roast porchetta in cider apple sausage, and a vegan Wellington. Each dish comes with plenty of roast potatoes, mixed kale and maple-roasted carrots, mulled red cabbage, Yorkshire puddings and of course, no roast would be complete without a good helping of gravy.
