From the owners of The Princess of Wales in Primrose Hill, this modernised Victorian taproom is a mid-market Marylebone hit. Enjoy a pint of Deuchar’s from the list of draught ales or check out good-to-find bottled beers such as Monteith’s Bohemian Pilsner; otherwise, keenly priced wines go well with mezze, charcuterie and cheese platters. Given that this is a high-street pub, it’s surprising to find a wide selection of cocktails too, including twists on classics such as Dark & Stormy or Pisco Sour – the latter masquerading as Walter White with tarragon and chilli added to the original mix. For the curious, ‘pick-n-mix’ homemade infusions are a step away from the usual party shots: investigate mustard, Marmite or wasabi vodka; wild berry gin; maraschino Sambuca and caramel Tequila. Also note the all-day happy hour at weekends (12N-8pm).
