You'll find The Lower Buck Inn in the quiet village of Waddington, next door to one of the local pubs. This smart, stone, semi-detached cottage operates as a restaurant, bar and inn, with a number of rooms available for those who wish to stay overnight. The rooms are popular with tourists and hikers, as Waddington provides an excellent staging post for those exploring the local area. There are three cosy bedrooms in total - one with an en-suite - and a family shower room.
Inside, the pub is well-worn and cosy - there's a welcoming living room where you can sink into a leather armchair in front of the wood burner, which ticks away in the colder months to keep the place warm, and there's a separate dining room next door. Around the back there's a spacious terrace, which makes an excellent sun trap in the summer months.
The menu is compact, but well curated with a big handful of classic, crowd-pleasing pub dishes. Starters include breaded brie with bacon and cranberry jam, chicken goujons with sweet chilli and garlic dip, and a soup of the day, whilst the mains are equally comforting - steak and ale or cheese and onion pie, a smoked bacon and cheese burger, homemade fish pie, battered haddock with chips and mushy peas, and Lancashire hotpot with pickled red cabbage.
Naturally, you can also expect lots of local beers of draught in the pub, and much of what's on the menu comes from local suppliers, whether it's the ales or the sausages.
The Lower Buck Inn also has plenty of off road parking, as well as an external utility room which is often used as bike storage for those cycling around the area.
