‘Cielo’ is Italian for ‘sky’, & the heavens (starry or otherwise) are visible through the retractable roof of this dolce vita-style Italian restaurant’s mezzanine lounge. Convene for drinks ahead of some late-night shape throwing at sister ‘boutique’ nightclub Luxx downstairs, but note that its well-built cocktails aren’t far off The Connaught’s prices – around £12 is a lot for a Woodford Reserve mint julep in anyone’s lingo, & other mixes such as negroni sbagliato are similarly steep. With the pound all but devalued, maybe the flash Euro types simply don’t notice: if Dolce & Prada (rather than Dolcis & Primark) are your thing, you’ll fit in nicely here. A few stormy rumblings from dissatisfied customers regarding unfocused service, hefty bills & staff with a cavalier attitude are hopefully no more than passing clouds.
