About

The roots of The King's Head are way back in 1750, back when it bore the name of the White Horse. In 1801, William Reynolds took the helm as owner after the pub went under the hammer and it soon became a favoured stop for travellers voyaging between Rochford and Brentwood, as The King's Head offered respite just before the adjacent toll-gate.

A member of the Vintage Inns chain, the menus are filled with wholesome classics and quintessential rural pub delights. From the savoury steak and mushroom pie to classic beer-battered fish and chips, there is something to satisfy every appetite. For those seeking something a little different, or those who visit The Kings Head often, seasonal specials await.

Make sure to start your meal at The Kings Head with some appetisers. Perhaps the chargrilled lamb koftas with baba ghanoush, tzatziki, beetroot and a tortilla or slow-roasted tomato arancini on roasted beetroot & balsamic purée with basil pesto. If you are looking for something to share amongst the table, why not try the melting Camembert drizzled with honey & truffle-infused oil, served with apple, date & tamarind chutney and sourdough bread to dip, or the sticky platter with fried chicken, crispy prawns, chilli jam-glazed lamb koftas, hummus, tzatziki, Bumbu Bali spicy mayo and stone-baked flatbread. For your main, why not try one of the signature skewers with a side of Bumbu Bali spicy mayo and a pineapple and mango salsa, a signature prime steak burger with maple-glazed beef brisket and all the toppings, or an oven-baked chicken breast on a bed of spinach, topped with a wild mushroom & garlic sauce, streaky bacon and melted mozzarella, served with skin-on fries. Don’t skip on the strawberry bellini trifle with layers of strawberry compôte with a hint of Prosecco, vanilla custard mousse, strawberry biscuit crumb and fresh strawberries.

The bar boasts an impressive selection, encompassing locally crafted hand-pulled ales and ciders, as well as timeless classic cocktails. Catering to diverse preferences, a thoughtfully curated range of soft beverages and mocktails ensures every guest finds their perfect refreshment.
