A rare survivor in these parts, here is a real London backstreet pub & a contemporary of the Iron Duke, Wellington, himself. Integral to an appealing streetscape, this traditionally decorated, tightly run, L-shaped taproom – with a function room for hire – is a Fuller’s tied house. Expect regular Chiswick-brewed names such as ESB, London Pride & Discovery, as well as American draught Blue Moon & various seasonal ales flagged up on the pumps at any given time – perfect if you’re watching the sporting action on the screen. The Duke does as roaring trade at lunchtime, when in-the-know office types drop by for restorative pies & sandwiches, although the kitchen switches off at 7pm as desk-weary punters begin to drift off to catch commuter trains from Euston, Paddington &, of course, Waterloo.
