The Maybury Inn in Woking is exactly what you'd think of as a traditional, English pub. In the picturesque town, this charming pub has quilted seating, a beer garden, well stocked bar and plenty of charm that makes it a favourite amongst locals. The menus at the Maybury Inn are inspired by the season, and so the country classics you find on the menu aren't dishes that will necessarily stick around for long. There are great vegan and vegetarian options, comforting classics and a great selection of more innovative dishes.
For the table, order the baked gillot camembert with roasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds, freshly baked artisan bread and plum ketchup for dipping, or the padron peppers with spiced honey, and a coconut and chilli crumb. Starters are a bit more sizeable than these snacks, and include white crab on sourdough with yuzu and lime aioli, kohlrabi pickle and lemon oil, along with spiced carrot and coriander soup with pesto and baked carrot crisps, and karaage fried chicken with rainbow slaw.
We love the sound of all of the main dishes, like the roasted celeriac steak with black salsify, caramelised shallots and mixed exotic mushrooms, along with the half rotisserie chicken with skin on fries, rich gravy and BBQ rub, and the freshly battered line caught cod and chips with minted pea puree, house tartare sauce and charred lemon.
Every single one of the sides sound truly delicious, like the billionaire's fries with parmesan, prosciutto and truffle flavour mayonnaise, along with the truffle cheese doughnuts, tenderstem broccoli with green beans, spinach and samphire, crispy onion rings and chive mashed potato. Last but not least, try the tarte aux pommes for dessert, the chocolate bomb with brownie, Biscoff spread, vanilla ice cream, raspberries and hot chocolate sauce, and the vanilla poached pear.
