The Holford Arms is an award-winning country pub with rooms based in the Wiltshire countryside, just a stone’s throw from the Gloucestershire border. Housed in a 16th-century building, it has plenty of character and period charm.
The restaurant is a cosy space with decor sympathetic to the inn’s history. Stand out features include beautiful, Tudor wooden ceiling beams, an exposed stone wall and fireplace, with vintage-style mismatch furniture. In the warmer months, though, the pub has a lovely outdoor seating area which is perfect for enjoying the surrounding acres of green fields.
The Holford Arms changes its menus seasonally and does its very best to use locally grown and sourced produce wherever it can, such as venison from Badminton Estate or Wagyu beef from the Cotswolds. The team even grow their own ingredients in the vegetable garden, orchard and poly-tunnels for heritage vegetables, salads, fruit and herbs, giving dishes a real authentic taste of Wiltshire.
The menu heroes English classics but also offers recipes from further afield, giving a global spin on traditional pub grub. The lunch menu offers nibbles, starters and sandwiches if you fancy something light, as well as mains and desserts. From spicy southern-style seafood gumbo to Cotswolds Wagyu beef burger with homemade BBQ sauce, bacon jam and cheddar in a brioche bun, and meat-free options such as brie-stuffed sourdough baguette with garden pickles and autumn fruit chutney, there’s plenty of choice. The evening menu adds hearty dishes such as herb crusted lamb rump served with home grown squash and salmon fillet served with sesame roasted pak choi, honey, lemongrass and ginger soy glaze, with lots of sides to pick from, too. If venturing this way on a Sunday, The Holford Arms is very proud of its end-of-the-week roast with options like roast sirloin of local beef, 12 hour slow roast local belly of pork and roasted halloumi.
