About
Fresh from an on-trend makeover, The Halfway House is now pulling in a lively young crowd of Earlsfield locals with its smart alfresco space and revamped ‘best of British’ menu. Friendly staff serve cocktails, Young's cask ales and Meantime craft brews in the buzzy front bar, while tiled floors and vintage touches create a comfortable feel in the airy dining room out back. Here crowd-pleasers such as ale-battered fish and chips, hearty burgers and steaks sit alongside more ambitious plates including confit Gressingham duck and fennel salad in a chicken ‘crackling’ basket. Our braised Cornish razor clams with finely chopped leeks and bacon was a delicate, well-judged starter, although duck liver and wild rabbit terrine needed more rustic depth – no complaints about properly crispy pork belly with black pudding, apple sauce and seasonal greens, though. Generous desserts and reasonably priced wines are further pluses.
