About

At The Greyhound in Derby, the classic British pub and American smokehouse merge with briskets and pulled pork served alongside a stellar bar selection including ales from the Derby Brewing Company.

Housed in a renovated 18th-century pub, the space features original features like oak beams, exposed brickwork, and a fireplace that gives the space a warm and homely feel. There is also a charming European oak bar as well as folding doors that look out onto their walled garden which is perfect for alfresco dining. They also have additional outdoor space in the form of their attractive roof terrace. The pub regularly holds events with live music performances, quizzes, and food and drink offers.

The Greyhound’s menu kicks off with lighter bar snacks and sharing plates like crispy chicken wings, tornado potato skewers, and cheese bites. These are followed by a range of sandwiches filled with BBQ pulled pork, smoked brisket as well as vegan smoked aubergine filling. Loaded fries are served with fried chicken, Texan-style chilli and even a gyro version served with za’atar yogurt, olive tapenade, and feta. The more substantial mains here feature a bumper offering of hot dogs, burgers, and smoked meats all served with house-seasoned fries. The desserts on offer at The Greyhound are extremely indulgent including a triple chocolate brownie sundae, deep-fried Oreos, waffle fries, and even a battered Mars bar.

The Sunday roast offering is also quite over the top, alongside the normal roast meat accompanied by all the trimmings guests can order the roast burger. This is comprised of a beef patty, beef topside, gravy, roast potatoes, horseradish, pigs in blankets, stuffing, and a Yorkshire pudding all served in a brioche bun.

It is clear that The Greyhound never does things by halves making it a great choice for weeknight dinner, a drink with a snack or a weekend family meal
