There’s an eclectic collection of art inside this eccentric Crystal Palace pub giving it a slightly legitimate nod to the area’s famous world’s fair exhibition of 1851, but there are precious few other connections. As well as the usual selection of pub drinks, there’s an impressive array of British craft beers and the staff know enough to advise novices. Tuck into classic pub grub – doorstep sandwiches, decent salads and competent burgers, or on Saturday, indulge in the bottomless brunch involving eggs any which way, masses of toast and never-ending Bloody Marys. A jolly sort of place, live music and quizzes keep the place lively without taking itself too seriously.
