The Golden Gorse is a destination restaurant and bar, located inside the Dornoch Station hotel.
Open Thursday to Saturday for dinner, plus Sunday lunch, you will find a delicious sounding seasonal menu of authentic Scottish dishes, made using local highlands produce. Bar Ross is also open daily with a menu of lighter bites.
The restaurant itself has been thoughtfully decorated with a luxurious, cosy, art deco look and feel. You will find comfy olive green velvet chairs, tucked into pretty marble top tables, soft lighting and a striking paneled ceiling. Each table enjoys lovely views across the Links golf course and out to sea. The perfect intimate spot to enjoy a tipple and some hand-dived local scallops or the local charcuterie board.
Other dishes on the seasonal menu may include Scottish lobster thermidor with skinny fries, or roast Shetland pollock served with brown butter, shrimp and spinach. Meat free dishes may include a chipotle roasted butternut squash, served with candied pumpkin seeds, and a hay smoked carrot, tahini and hazelnut dukkah.
There are plenty of tempting side dishes to accompany your meal, such as triple cooked truffle and parmesan chips, buttery mash, and creamed spinach served with almonds.
Those with a sweet tooth may enjoy the delicious sounding dessert menu, with dishes such as burnt cream tart with Scottish raspberries, or the dark chocolate choux buns served with Whiskey whipped cream.
Children are also welcome at The Golden Gorse, there is a children's menu which includes plenty of favourites such as the brioche burger, battered haddock, and chicken goujons.
