Halfway between Crystal Palace and Gipsy Hill, the fantastic Faber Fox is drawing in punters with its roomy bar, eclectic menu and knockout garden with some of the best views of the capital. Grab a spot on the sunny terrace and tuck into sharing plates, pub classics, hangover-busting burgers or inventive salads. Highlights include starters of pork dim sum and chilli oil, crisp morsels packing a punch of Asian flavour; and bite-sized mac ‘n’ cheese balls, deep fried to perfection and paired with an earthy beetroot dip. Both slipped down easily with a pint of Hepcat from nearby Gipsy Hill Brewery, although local gins from Peckham, Tooting or Clapham would have gone down a treat, too. Spiced lamb flatbreads, piled high with tender pulled lamb, crisp coleslaw, hummus, minty yogurt and spice were far too good not to finish. A word of warning to the greedy: you may not have room for dessert.
