The English Lounge is an ideal spot in central Manchester to sit down for a drink and a hearty pub meal. Found just a short walk from Shudehill Metrolink station and from Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre, it’s ideally positioned to be the pitstop amidst a day of shopping and exploring, or the reward at the end of one.
A lively venue, The English Lounge often puts on live music and big screen sports (Sky and BT are on offer) for diners and drinkers alike to enjoy. There's an outdoor terrace, if you fancy a change of scene and a breath of fresh Manchester air.
The food menu is vast and full of our favourite pub classics: wings, burgers, pizzas, pies, pasta. There's also an all-day breakfast, chicken tikka masala, and sausages and mash – a real mishmash of every classic British plate you could possibly imagine. If you’re a fiend for ordering lots of small plates and flitting between them all, you’ll also be sorted, with a selection of plates including cheesy macaroni bites, southern-fried chicken goujons, and chicken and chorizo skewers. The English Lounge’s menu isn’t particularly fancy, but we think it would certainly hit the spot after a long day of shopping.
Of course, as you’d expect from a traditional English pub, you can also go to The English Lounge for all of your Sunday roast needs. There's pork, beef, turkey, or mushroom Wellington, along with a whole host of sides. And, possibly the best part, you’ll get bottomless Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, and red wine gravy, which is enough of a reason in itself to go and grab a table.
If you’re after a filling and hearty meal that is reasonably priced in Manchester’s city centre, in a setting that has the atmosphere of a classic British pub, this one’s for you.
