Will Farmer took after The Dyke Alehouse in 2019 after a successful Crowdfunding campaign, and so, the friendly doors are back open. The pub had previously been closed for three years, but was a popular establishment before, having served the community for over 120 years. So loved by locals, The Dyke Alehouse ended up having its very own resurrection group when it closed nearly ten years ago. Will’s passion resulted in the reopening, and with it came this new name. Inside, you’ll find traditional pub grub, delicious local ales and a friendly team of staff.
Begin your meal with some tasty starters. On the menu, you’ll spot a soup of the day, along with chicken, jalapeño and cheese croquettes, or those filled with pulled pork and honey, Thai fishcakes with a lime mayo, and mushroom and truffle arancini. Main meals are exactly what you’d expect of this kind of pub. Try the fresh cod with real chips, peas and tartare sauce, or there is a halloumi option for those not wanting to order the fish. Beef cheek is served with roast potatoes and celeriac, barbecue pork ribs come in American style with chips, corn on the cob and coleslaw. There are a selection of burgers on the menu, from the homemade beef burgers, chicken burger with mayo and a veggie option of the day.
Don’t skip dessert, as there are plenty to choose from. The warm raisin flapjack comes with a mixed berry compote, and then there is a chocolate brownie with hot sauce, and sticky toffee pudding served with vanilla ice cream. On Sunday, enjoy a selection of roasts that include confit pork belly, roasted beef sirloin, chicken breast or leg, a tasty three meat combo, mixed vegetable Wellington, and nut roast.
