The Dockyard is on Guildhall Walk in Portsmouth, a short walk from the Historic Dockyard, home to HMS Victory, and the Gunwharf Quays shopping and dining complex. It’s also right by the city’s university and features bookable booths for studying.
The food menu is a selection of traditional and contemporary pub fayre. Small plates play the role of starters or shareable snacks. Options include tacos (available with karrage chicken, grilled mushroom or grilled halloumi), chicken or cauliflower wings and a range of dough balls. There’s also a sharing board, which features, among others, chicken wings, garlic bread and BBQ beef burnt ends.
Pizzas and burgers make up most of the main course dishes. The pizza topping options are numerous, including pepperoni, Bombay bird (shredded chicken with red onion, crispy onion, mint mayo and coriander), and the naturist (grilled mushroom, spinach, rocket and almond pesto. Sauces for dunking crusts are also on offer, such as garlic and herb and hot honey buffalo.
All burgers are served in a toasted bun with ketchup, burger sauce, iceberg lettuce, chopped onion and gherkin, skin-on fires and BBQ sauce. Patties can either be beef, buttermilk-coated chicken or Quorn butter-milk style fillet burger.
Bottomless brunch is available on weekends. This is £28 per head on Sundays and Fridays and £30 each on Saturdays and includes dishes such as a full English, nachos, burgers or pizzas accompanied by two hours of unlimited drinks.
