Thanks to a tidy refit by Young’s Brewery, this Greenwich riverside watering hole is now shipshape and ready for action once again. Inside it offers three floors of possibilities, starting with a downstairs ‘pub’ – think Young’s beers, guest ales, well-chosen wines, quiz nights and honest grub ranging from sarnies to Scotch eggs and sharing boards. Above is the Willis dining room, elegantly decked out for more ambitious food along the lines of Brixham crab pot with fries and a bloody Mary on the side, ’posh’ chicken Kiev with celeriac and truffle mash or pork belly with scallops and cauliflower purée. Right at the top is the ‘crow’s nest’, a parrot-themed space for private events. The pub’s touristy Greenwich location also makes it an ideal stop-off for sightseers and families – hence the dedicated kids’ menu and traditional Sunday roasts.
