The Cow & Sow is a refined dining venue located on Whiteladies Road in Bristol. This steakhouse is intimate and inviting, with such tasteful decor, comfortable seating and of course, incredible food. If you're celebrating, it's Saturday, or just because you want to, kick off with the Cow and Sour, made with amaretto, 101 Bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, cherry and lemon. The sharer and small plate section is designed for sharing amongst the table, but we won't tell if you keep them to yourself. The Cow & Sow sharer includes salt and pepper pork rinds, baby back ribs, ox cheek and cheddar croquettes, mini chorizo, poached and charred pineapple olives and warm pain de campagne with whipped butter.
From the chophouse, order the fillet which has been aged for 35 days and is garnished with watercress and your choice of sauce or butter. If you enjoyed sharing your starters, choose a steak to share – perhaps ribeye on the bone tomahawk that is well marbled, rich and buttery. The cider and wholegrain mustard butter sounds incredible, as does the red wine sauce.
There are some main dishes that don't centre around steaks, including the grilled and smoky maple glazed cauliflower steak with pommes Anna, squash puree, green and a thyme and beetroot jus, and the slow cooked pork belly with potato fondant, pig's cheek cider and pork sauce and house pork rind. On the side, order a bowl of Koffmann's chips, the dirty buttery mash potato with bacon chunks, cheddar, chive creme fraiche and crispy onion. Caramelised pineapple with passion fruit and saffron gel is a gem on the dessert menu, topped with pomegranate, toasted coconut shavings, hazelnut crumb and coconut sorbet.
