This convivial yachties’ hangout offers loft-style bare-brick walls, large pine tables, leather sofas and mix-and-match chairs, accessorised with the odd sleeping hound and bleeting child. Open throughout the day, it delivers eggs Benedict and sausage muffins for breakfast, lunches of crab linguine or warm goats’ cheese salad, and evening plates of steak-frites or chicken Caesar. And if it’s warm enough, you can eat on the small terrace beside the pedestrianised street. As this is a boating hot spot, expect plenty of bubbly on the short wine list, as well as a line-up of bottled beers. The Coast is the latest addition on a main drag that is seeing something of a foodie awakening, with an upmarket wine shop, a chocolate emporium and a new artisan bakery/café called Well Bread.
