The Cleveland Arms is located in Brighton, so before you learn anymore about it, you know it will have such beautiful, coastal surroundings. The traditional family run freehouse pub is warm and welcoming, inviting guests in for food from 12pm until 9pm every night, other than on Sundays, where food service stops at 6pm. Here, home cooked meals are served to happy customers, with meat sourced locally and fish sustainably caught nearby. In addition to the local food offerings, Sussex ales are on tap, from Harveys and Dark Star to Long Man.
The pub is designed to feel light and airy, and bookings are welcomed in any size. The pub is family and dog friendly, and you'll often catch sports on the telly, along with enjoying live music and quiz nights, cheese and wine get togethers and charity events. Starters at The Cleveland Arms include polenta fries with black olives, sundried tomato and a red pepper sauce, along with arancini filled with Brighton blue cheese, butternut squash and walnut, and homemade sausage rolls in a flavour of the day. If you're eating around lunchtime, one of the pub's focaccias may be enough to fill you up. Try the fish finger with tartare and gem lettuce for a take on a traditional pub lunch, or the New Yorker made with pastrami, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard.
Main dishes in the pub include classics like a smokey fish pie with winter greens and a dry aged steak burger in a brioche bun with relish and chips, but there are less classic pub dishes on the menu too. These include the cauliflower steak with harissa and chickpea topped with a cauliflower puree, and root vegetable potato cakes topped with a wild mushroom and truffle sauce.
