Located off the Montcalm’s lobby, this intimate Champagne lounge comes courtesy of Searcy’s, who also run the hotel’s Sixtyone restaurant. Ritzy, glitzy, sparkly, opulent: the oval-shaped room’s softly lit decor lies somewhere between Dolce & Gabbana and Dorian from Birds of a Feather on the style continuum. Bubbles from £8.50 a stem include Kentish Balfour Brut, with Brice and Gosset among pricier rosé fizz by the bottle, while house cocktails are reasonable by luxe London hotel standards. Around £10 gets a number sixtyone (lemongrass-infused gin, green tea and cardamom) or you might prefer the popcorn-washed Plantation rum flip called commore. To nibble, try the surf ‘n’ turf ideas from a menu that promises sliders, mussel chowder, chard gratin, banoffee parfait and artisan cheeses to go with tasty Burgundies of either colour.
