The Carpenters Arms at Fulbrook is a quaint British pub just outside Burford, on the outskirts of the leafy Cotswolds. The country pub is designed with families in mind, and prides itself on great hospitality, food and drink for locals and visitors alike, including dogs who are also very welcome!
Inside, the pub has all the trappings of a great village local - you can while away the hours with a book or a board game, or curl up in a comfy armchair in front of the wood burner. Outside you'll find an extensive beer garden, complete with picnic benches, parasols and a children's play area to keep your kids entertained. There's also a kitchen garden, where the kitchen team grows a bevy of different herbs and plants for daily use on the menu.
Speaking of the menu, The Carpenters Arms offers multiple, with a lunchtime sandwich menu, dedicated children's menu and a Thursday chargrill menu as well as an a la carte. You'll find the latter stuffed with elevated gastropub grub, ranging from Monkfish ceviche with grapefruit, chilli, radish, citrus caviar and pickled watermelon on the starters, to seared venison loin with faggot, roast pumpkin and pickled blackberries, and a whoel roast megrim sole with wild mushroom and chive beurre blanc on the mains. There are more classic options too including steaks, fish and chips and an aged beef burger, and on Thursdays, the team chargrills a huge range of steaks, fish, vegetables and more over the habachi grill, and serves with a selection of chips, sauces, and dressed salads.
Desserts are equally varied, ranging from a classic sticky toffee pudding to fig frangipane tart with honeycomb.
The Carpenters Arms is also very child-friendly - in fact, you may well find the owners children playing regularly in the play area outside!
