The Calverley Arms

I was a guest at a wake here on Tuesday, and my expectation were already set quite high, sadly I was very disappointed, firstly the bar service fell short, as new staff appeared to have not been fully trained, and made silly mistakes with my initial order, and secondly the catering for the buffet was nothing short of appalling! … 40 guests at £15,95 per head (£638.00) was an absolute joke, no thought or consideration was given to the food that was pre-ordered ordered weeks ahead, it literally looked like it was a case of, “we really don’t care, but we will throw something on plates for you” … and what you did attempt to rustle up, was a very poor effort to say the least, staff were also few and far between, to the point where guests were having to clear their own tables !! ….. Really ??? This is not the standard or the service I expected at all.

We ate the Sunday carvery   -  meat was good.  Yorkshire puddings were cold.  Potatoes were tepid bullets, couldn't cut them or chew them they were so cold and hard.  Vegetables were not warm.  The whole meal was a disappointment.  Gravy was cold.  We did not complain because we hadn't time to wait for replacement food.
