Housed in a barrel-vaulted railway arch, this is the latest addition the SW4’s increasingly interesting nightlife. Once known as a straight-edged wine bar, The Bridge is now outing itself as ‘the
hottest gay bar in Clapham’ – not a particularly tall order, given some of the competition. Currently open from noon until midnight (pending an application hearing for a late licence), its
housey/chart-hits DJs play nightly to a boy-next-door crowd that’s less full-on than in nearby Vauxhall Village’s fleshpots. Presumably hired for their skills and looks, gym-buff barmen
dispense draught Heineken and bottled lagers for the more label-conscious. Wines start around £15, and there’s a range of reasonably priced charcuterie and tapas to nibble. Mojitos, caipirinhas,
margaritas etc clock in at £6.50 – and there are porn star martinis too.
