You can spot The Breakfast Club’s cafés a mile off; it’s not only the ‘egg-yolk yellow’ frontages that alert you to their presence, it’s the queues that always seem to be snaking out of their doors. This feel-good chain, a decade old now, has hit on a wildly successful formula involving easy-eating brekkie classics, colourfully kitschy decor (think neon signs proclaiming ‘sex, drugs and bacon rolls’), Sega Mega Drive consoles, non-stop 80s references and even hush-hush bars behind the scenes. Serving from breakfast time proper until around midnight, the Club’s kitchens dispense eggs every which way, fry-ups (aka The Full Monty or Half Monty), and dirty American diner fare such as nachos, burgers, burritos, pulled pork sandwiches and pancakes. Liquid refreshment comes in the form of coffee, cocktails, smoothies, juices and beers.
