Located in the quaint seaside town of Gullane, The Bonnie Badger is a charming restaurant overseen by Head Chef Alex Politis and Chef Tom Kitchin. The venue also has rooms for guests, making it perfect for exploring the beautiful East Lothian coast.
The main dining room is situated in the building's large characterful original stables which have been restored to create an atmospheric dining environment. Large windows flood the space with light which bounces off the high ceilings and beams giving the space a bright and airy feel. There is also an original fireplace perfect for Scotland’s chillier weather. In the warmer months, the venue boasts a stunning garden perfect for a bite in the sun. However, even if the weather isn’t cooperating the outdoor space has been designed for use year-round so guests can enjoy a cozy hot drink under a blanket. If guests want to enjoy a more casual meal with a drink the Broc bar offers elevated Scottish pub classics alongside and expertly crafted drinks list.
The menu at The Bonnie Badger champions the produce of their surroundings and they work closely with local suppliers to craft seasonal and sustainable dishes. All their locally sourced meat and game is butchered in-house and the kitchen team also forages locally for ingredients. The menus vary between the different dining spaces in the complex, but guests can expect grilled local seafood, elevated classics like haggis, neeps, and tatties, and indulgent mains like braised Wagyu shin pappardelle. Food here is served all day including tea, coffee and cake throughout the day and a seasonal afternoon tea at the end of the week.
The Bonnie Badger is both child and dog friendly, making it a great choice for family occasions. The restaurant also works closely with local charities with a pound added to every bill as a donation.
