The Black Horse, is a relaxed and traditional family pub and brasserie with rooms, situated just off the High Street in Thame, Oxfordshire. Part of the White Brasserie Company, The Black Horse resides in a 17th century building and has been sympathetically decorated and restored throughout with exposed beams, wood panelled walls and plenty of period features. There is also a pretty outdoor courtyard seating area which is decorated with festoon lighting and parasols, and a light airy brasserie area to the rear of the pub.
The Black Horse serves a seasonal a la carte menu daily, as well as a breakfast menu which is served Monday through to Saturday. The Black Horse also serves Sunday lunch.
The seasonal menu includes plenty of traditional pub favourites. Starters and nibbles include dishes such as chicken liver parfait served with toasted brioche, and baked Saint Marcellin which is a pot of creamy melted cheese served with truffle honey and bread.
Main courses include a free-range Cornish beef burger served with homemade tomato chutney and chips, and a butterflied supreme of chicken served with hasselback potatoes and grilled golden courgette. You will also find a good selection of 8oz steaks, chateaubriand for two, and plenty of tempting sides such as sweet potato fries, minted potatoes and buttered greens.
Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the range of desserts, with dishes such as golden chocolate feuilletine which is a layered chocolate sponge and mousse finished with a dark chocolate glaze and sweet black cherries. There is also a sticky toffee pudding, rhubarb crumble and a selection of ice cream.
There is a wide selection of good quality wine, beer and cider. There is also a cocktail menu, and a selection of fresh coffee which can be served with a trio of truffles – the perfect way to end your meal at The Black Horse.
