Set in the beautiful Cotswolds, The Black Horse is packed with charm. A 16th century building, this restaurant is located in a quaint corner of the Oxfordshire countryside, and is truly a magical place to visit. The team put real emphasis on using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, making sure that guests get the best quality experience possible.
To start, enjoy some scallops with pea puree, black pudding and chorizo, or game terrine with house piccalilli and croutes. Perhaps you'd prefer to start your meal with a cured sea trout finished with beetroot gel, dill compressed cucumber, apple, radish and caviar, or Cornish mussels, with cream, white wine and garlic sauce. For your main, enjoy Buckland Warren pheasant with greens, fries and mustard sauce, the catch of the day or daily pasta dish, or a 12oz pork chop with confit carrots, braised leeks, shallot puree, dauphinoise potatoes, and a red wine and onion jus. If you’re having chips with your meal, why not upgrade them to be topped with indulgent truffle and parmesan.
On Sundays, be sure to try The Black Horse's roast dinner. Choose from the rare striploin of beef, lemon and thyme half chicken, roast pork belly or squash and beetroot Wellington. On the side of your meal, you’ll find plenty of roast potatoes, honey carrots and parsnips, green veggies, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings, and a red wine and port jus.
For dessert there are usually plenty of choices, opt for the tiramisu flavoured with orange liquor, coffee and Italian brandy, the rich and creamy custard lemon creme brulee, a cheesecake with white chocolate and fresh raspberries, chocolate brownie or sticky toffee pudding, or a refreshing Eton mess.
