The Bell Inn Broadheath is in Lower Broadheath, Worcestershire, a quaint village just outside the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the birthplace of Edward Elgar. The composer’s childhood home is a short drive from the pub and operated as a museum by the National Trust.
Food is served from breakfast until dinner. The evening a la carte menu is typical of a country pub. Starters include pate of the day, salt and pepper squid and baked Camembert. There’s also three sharing starters: antipasto or ploughman’s platters or chilli beef nachos where meat can be swapped for beans.
Mains choices cover a lot of ground. Tacos, burgers and pizzas are served alongside pub classics. Burgers are the focal point of the menu. The two standouts here are the British bulldog (topped with black pudding and Stilton) and the Broadheath blue burger (topped with Worcester blue cheese made in the village). Tacos are either fish, beef brisket or smoked cauliflower. Pizza options include margherita and spicy ‘nduja.
The Bell classic is the pub’s signature dish. This is slow cooked belly pork served with dauphinoise potatoes and a redcurrant jelly. As well as this, you’ll find fish and chips, an 8oz sirloin steak and sticky ribs. There’s also plenty of vegetarian options. These are a vegetable wellington, a vegan nut roast and a five bean chilli.
On Sundays The Bell Inn serves a roast. Beef and turkey are the meat choices, and there’s also a vegan nut roast. The two course lunch menu is £12.95 and includes soup of the day and pie of the day. Breakfast dishes range from toasted brioche bagels to a full English to American pancakes.
The Bell Inn also has rooms. These are either twin, double or king size and range from £100-120 a night. The pub also takes bookings for Christmas day.
