The Barton Arms is a truly unique setting for any special occasion. Steeped in history, this public house has stood on the site for over 100 years and is a fine example of Victorian pub architecture. The restaurant is known for its spectacular interiors which create an atmosphere of luxury and grandeur. While much has changed since its Victorian days, the Barton Arms still presents finery and a truly special setting; however, now you can add a feast of authentic Thai cuisine to your visit.
In a grand dining hall, the restaurant serves up delectable Thai dishes prepared by Thai chefs. Begin with ordering spicy Thai-style crackers with the sweet chilli dip while you browse the rest of the menu. Starters include vegetarian spring rolls and sesame mushroom toast as well as meat options of chicken satay, honey spare ribs and crispy, tempura-battered seafood.
To many diners relief, the menu features a chilli rating so you can avoid setting your mouth on fire if you can't handle spice too well. For main courses, you'll find familiar plates such as green and red curries as well as the slow-cooked massaman curry flavoured with tamarind, potatoes, onions, and roasted peanuts.
There's also stir fried dishes, cooked in traditional woks, that feature chilli beef, sweet and sour pork, or spicy, garlic chicken. If you are a vegetarian, there's also stir fried dishes of broccoli and shitake mushrooms as well as tofu and pak choi.
You'll want to add sides of rice or noodles to accompany unless you opt for one of the complete dishes. These include pad thai - rice noodles fried in a tamarind sauce with egg and bean sprouts; as well as the Barton Arms special of Thai-style fried rice seasoned with soy sauce, onions, tomatoes, egg and spring greens - you've just got to pick your topping out of chickem, beef, pork, prawns, or grilled vegetables.
