One of Edinburgh’s great hidden gems, Teuchter’s Landing is a small dockside bar frequented almost exclusively by locals. Urbane, classy and the sort of place you feel you might never leave, it also has a remarkable roster of 20 predominantly Scottish beers and lagers plus almost 100 whiskies to go with a menu of various hearty comestibles served in mugs – from Cullen skink and haggis stovies to casseroles, stews, mac ‘n’ cheese with oatcakes or Loch Creran oysters. You can even get a mug of sticky toffee pud to finish. Recently extended, it has lost none of its character or charm, while the proximity of the brilliant A Room in Leith bistro next door makes a diamond for the weekend. Also check out Teuchter’s Bar at 26 William Street in the city’s West End.
