Taste of Jaipur is on London’s Brick Lane, the traditional home of Indian food in the capital. Its menu combines curry house favourites with a selection of dishes from the city that gives the restaurant its name and wider Rajasthan. Food is served every day from midday to midnight.
Like all courses, the starters options are numerous. As well as chicken chat and king prawn puri, there’s also Tellicherry squid and shrimp, sesame paneer and badami mushroom.
For mains, you can choose from 93 different dishes. House specials include lamb shank, lamb chop lazizi, sylethi chicken and South Indian garlic chilli chicken. There’s also four biryanis: chicken, lamb, king prawn or vegetable.
The classics are represented by the likes of korma, tikka masala, bhuna, balti and rogan josh. These are served with either chicken, beef, lamb or king prawn. Tandoori dishes also feature heavily, such as the Afghani chicken tikka, chicken zamdani and fish tikka. Those not eating meat or fish can choose from, among others, chana masala, butter paneer and tofu jalfrezi.
Side dishes include saag aloo, Bombay aloo, saag paneer and gobi chilli fries. As well as plain rice, Taste of Jaipur also offers paneer rice, coconut rice and saffron rice. Naan options cover familiar ground, so expect to see keema, garlic and peshwari. Rotis and parathas are the other breads.
The full menu can also be ordered online for delivery or collection.
