Within the very heart of Manchester, a mere few minutes walk from the Arndale, Printworks, Manchester Arena, and the Northern Quarter, you’ll find the grand Corn Exchange establishment. Whether you're taking part in the shopping opportunities that surround you, going to see your favourite band play, catching a film, or gearing up for a night out, Tampopo Corn Exchange will definitely satisfy your street food cravings whatever time of the day. Tampopo is open every day from 10.30am and closes at 11pm, except for Sundays, when the venue closes an hour earlier.
The main menu begins with brunch, which is served until 3pm every day. Begin with the backpacker's breakfast, complete with crispy bacon, sambal pork sausage, fried egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, edamame and sweetcorn fritters, served with Asian BBQ sauce, or the pancakes with charred pineapple stacked between light roti, sweetened condensed milk, and a scoop of coconut and cinnamon ice cream.
The small plates are real showstoppers at this restaurant. Choose from a kimchi and cucumber salad with spring onion and sesame seeds, some deliciously crunchy Korean popcorn chicken in a honey butter glaze, the hoisin spring rolls with crushed peanuts and fresh mint, or the steamed pork gyoza dumplings and crispy squid dressed in Szechuan chilli oil with yuzu mayo, pea shoots and pink peppercorns. If you like meat, try the seared fillet strips with yuzu ponzu, wasabi avocado mousse and peppercorns, the Balinese slow cooked pork belly in star anise and cinnamon, with a rich sticky oyster and ginger sauce with coconut milk, and the shredded duck with plum hoisin sauce. If you want a bit of everything, order the Asian sharing platter – it comes with satay chicken, sticky wings, roasted corn fritters, Balinese pork belly, and a kimchi and cucumber salad.
