Set in a former underground car park, this hi-tech concrete bunker could be a 1980s nuclear fallout shelter. Stop Fix is part of Shed London (a creative hub for freelance designers and techies) and consists of an all-day café, wine shop and bar that’s open until 11pm. Choose from around 20 wines by the glass or pay corkage on the reasonable retail cost of a limited range of eminently drinkable bottles. Specific grape varieties are the focus of seasonal menus, with spring showcasing Pinot Noir from £20, produced as far afield as California, Burgundy, Chile… and Tunbridge Wells (Davenport’s Diamond Fields). Also featured is Riesling from noteworthy French, German and Australian producers and, interestingly, from Spain: dry, crisp Batlliu Biu de Sort a punchy contender at £7 a snifter. An array of local craft beers includes Beavertown’s Gamma Ray. There’s also coffee, soft drinks and juices – but snacks are limited.
