Translated to English Steki means “a place where people meet habitually”. In 1998 two brothers had the amazing idea of opening a Greek Taverna in Portsmouth. After a lot of consideration they named it “Steki” thinking that this is a place where people can have a relaxed and informal meal with friends and family. They ran the family business with great success for 8 years, but their dream was to open another Steki.
On July 27th, 2009 Steki Portsmouth was damaged in a terrible fire and had to remain closed for nearly a year to be rebuilt. But Steki is back again with a rejuvenated menu that respects the authentic Greek Cuisine hosted in a new Relaxed and Traditional Greek Environment, where you can feel the warmth of Greece and the friendliness of Greek hospitality.
We are committed to keeping the quality at the highest levels as we have done over the years by supplying authentic Greek products from Hellenic Grocery and their own brand GReat so to create authentic traditional homemade meals. Our motto “a taste of Greece in Portsmouth” is our promise to you and we will continue to work hard to honor it!
