SquareMeal Review of Stapleford Park
Stapleford Park is the epitome of English country house grandeur – an opulent stately home surrounded by expansive acres of woods & parkland. Two eateries – the Grinling Gibbons Restaurant & the Pavilion Brasserie – provide ample reasons to indulge, while excellent sports facilities mean that you can work it all off later. Grinling Gibbons carvings enhance the main dining room, creating a splendid backdrop to a short contemporary menu built on classic French principles. A starter of seared scallops, Jerusalem artichoke & Oscietra caviar could set the tone, ahead of beef fillet with truffle mash & red wine jus or sea bass with peas a la francaise & fondant potatoes. The Pavilion occupies a stylish golf club-house in the park & features an informal menu of modern brasserie classics, running from club sandwiches via grilled mackerel with mussel & basil stew to chocolate tart & creme brulee.
