Soul Kitchen is a vibrant hub in South Bristol, you'll find it located directly opposite the popular Tobacco Factory Theatre. Here, the menu is packed with flavour, and always prepared with passion. The restaurant is open between 5 and 9.30pm on Monday and Tuesday, 12 until 2.30pm and again from 5 until 9.30pm on Wednesday through to Saturday, and is closed on Sunday. The menu is constantly changing, a seasonal menu that is inspired by the foods of the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, using only the very best of local and seasonal ingredients.
The menu begins with mezze, and dishes of punched potatoes with zhoug and toum, along with pan fried Portobello and oyster mushrooms with lentils, labne, preserved lemon and tarragon. Other mezze plates include winter squash with pearl barley, chilli shatta, seasoned yoghurt and dukkah, another of charred leeks with crispy leeks, a soft boiled egg and harissa, and lastly baked celeriac with ras el hanout, tahini dressing, Nigella seeds, cashew and apple amba.
If you like meat and fish, try the dishes of filleted sea bass with slow cooked tomato sauce and bulgur pilaf, the BBQ aleppo chicken wings with Turkish slaw and tzatziki, and braised ox cheeks with skordalia and crispy shallots. To finish, enjoy revani, a Greek semolina cake with caramelised apples and yoghurt cream, or a deconstructed labneh cheesecake with stone fruit and pistachio.
To drink, enjoy the Quince Martini made with gin, quince jam, cointreau and lemon, the Turkish Apple Old Fashioned with Jim Bean, Turkish apple tea syrup and angostura bitters, or the Blood Orange Margarita with silver tequila, blood orange syrup, lime and nectarine liqueur.
