Portsmouth’s Slug & Lettuce sees the company’s ever popular take on the British pub installed at the Gunwharf Quays shopping complex. As a result, and unlike some of the less coastally-located branches of Slug & Lettuce, its selection of food and drinks can be enjoyed with a waterfront view.
With food served from 10am to 9pm, every course is catered for. The brunch menu (available until 4pm) runs the full gambit of initial meal options - a regular and plant-based full English, doughnut and waffle stack, and Mexican-style eggs with dipping tortillas are all on offer. For those eating while taking advantage of a drinks menu that offers 2-for-1 pricing on a range of 15 cocktails, there’s picky bits. This gives you the chance to build your own sharing platter from a 16-strong shortlist. Three plates are £21 and five plates are £33. Options include crispy teriyaki tofu, cheesy nachos and red pepper and sesame houmous. Order the S&L sharer and the four favourite plates (chicken skewers, Iberico ham croquettes, padron peppers and halloumi bao buns) will arrive in an afternoon tea-style serving stand that mirrors a birdcage.
Those after something more substantial or a meal to themselves need look no further than a range of large plates and burgers. Served from midday onwards, expect to see classics like fish and chips and steak and fries, as well as lighter options such as a tofu noodle salad. For dessert, you can choose from Little Moons mochi ice cream, Magnum ice cream bites and mini churros to name but a few. Returning to drinks, there’s also offers on shots and bombs. Shots are two for £7, while bombs are two for £7.50. Options for the former include Baby Guinness and Tequila Rose, and Skittle, fire and berry for the latter.
